She was born in Clay County, Alabama, and grew up with a vibrant and outgoing spirit that stayed with her throughout her life. She graduated from Mellow Valley High School in 1977, where she was a proud cheerleader, known for her energy and school spirit. She continued her education at Southern Union State Community College where she received an associate’s degree. She spent many years working at Plantation Patterns as a welder, as well as serving as a manager for McDonalds and Jacks, where she built lasting friendships and touched many lives with her kindness and dedication. She was known for her great personality—talkative, social, and full of life. She enjoyed the simple pleasures in life, including movie nights with her family, shopping trips, and spending time on her computer. More than anything, she loved her family. Her greatest joy came from looking after her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom she loved deeply and unconditionally. They were the center of her world and the source of her happiest moments. She will be remembered for her warmth, her laughter, and the love she gave so freely to those around her. Her presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was survived by two children: Shane Smith and Peggy Smith, both of Lineville; four grandchildren, Alex Smith, Blake Smith, Jacob Walker and Cloey Berry; four great grandchildren, Bryson Champion, Ryder Champion, Hansleigh Champion, and Mahaleigh Berry; one brother, Randy Walker of Ashland; her caretaker Peggy Logan; and a large extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dewey Armon Dock Walker and Sara Colleen Hallmark Walker.
Active pallbearers will be Jacob Walker, Blake Smith, Brandon Acuff, Nick Floyd, Caleb Duke and Kenny Whited.
Honorary pallbearer will be James Blake Smith.
Her visitation will take place on Tuesday, March 24, 2026 from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Benefield Funeral Home in Lineville.
