Archie Wayne Conner, age 71, went home to be with the Lord after a long battle with cancer at Vanderbilt Wilson County Hospital on August 31, 2026, with his wife by his side. Archie was born on September 17, 1954, to the late Homer and Betty Conner. Archie loved to tinker and had a talent for fixing just about anything. He also enjoyed playing golf and fishing. Archie was musically talented and could play both the bass guitar and drums. He was a faithful member of the East Sparta Church of God.
In addition to his parents, Archie was preceded in death by his sister, Patsy Farmer.
He is survived by his loving family: his wife, Gail Conner; son, Steve (Nikki) Conner; daughters, Kristi Conner, Kelly (Brad) Johnson, Amanda Layton, Jessica (Steve) Robinson, and Sara (Scott) Porter; brother, Jeffery (Lavetta) Conner; sisters, Janet Conner and Marsha (Marty) Parrott; 14 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren. Several nieces, nephews, and extended family members also survive.
Per Archie’s wishes, he will be cremated. A homegoing celebration of life will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. CST at East Sparta Church of God in Sparta, Tennessee.
