FLORENCE-Florence Arts and Museums is proud to announce that their Archaeology at Pope’s Tavern program has received an Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) FY2025 Museums for America Award. The award, for $14,703, will allow the program to continue funding its archaeology program, which consists of Junior Archaeology Camp; Archaeology Day; workshops involving archaeology, and regularly scheduled field days. The IMLS awarded 62 Museums for America grants in 2025.

“We are happy to receive this grant and excited about the future of Archaeology at Pope’s Tavern,” said Florence Arts and Museums Director Brian Murphy. “Funds will be used for our Junior Archaeology Camp, which is held annually in June. The grant will allow us to bring in more presenters and demonstrators for workshops, including our annual Archaeology Day, held on the first Saturday of June. This is an important moment for the program, which is one of only a few public archaeology programs in the state.”
