DECATUR-The highly anticipated Open Cup tournament, sanctioned by USSSA, is returning to Decatur this April for its thirteenth consecutive year. Over the weekend of April 13-14, 2024, the Jack Allen Recreation Complex will host approximately 80 teams from various regions of the eastern United States.
The Open Cup provides competitive soccer opportunities for youth teams ranging from U9 to U19, with divisions including Premier, Challenge, Classic, and Academy levels for both girls and boys. Each age division and gender will have at least one elite level of play, supplemented by one to two competitive divisions at lower tiers whenever possible. Teams competing in each age division will have the chance to vie for championship titles and runner-up honors, with trophies awarded accordingly.
Matches will take place at the esteemed Jack Allen Recreation Complex, renowned as one of the premier soccer facilities in the Southern United States. Boasting 11 fields, including two championship fields, the complex promises top-notch playing conditions for participants and spectators alike.
Event Organizer Scott Spencer anticipates the arrival of approximately 80 teams hailing from sixteen states for the 2024 Open Cup in Decatur. Notably, past tournaments have drawn teams not only from across the United States but also from international destinations such as Brazil, Nigeria, Trinidad and Tobago, Canada, Mexico, El Salvador, and Panama.
