Annie Louise Warren Nichols of Athens, Alabama, was born on December 12, 1921 to the late Ollie Louise and John W. Warren of Old Hickory, TN and passed away on November 15, 2021 at the age of ninety-nine. She is preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband of sixty-four years, Maurice W. Nichols and her sons Michael Edward Nichols and Mark Dale Nichols and six siblings.
She is survived by her daughters: Cheryl Nichols Watrous (late James Watrous), Lu Ann Nichols Bryan (Jimmy), Cathy Nichols Todd (Andy) and eight beloved grandchildren: Lea Nichols Friedman (Ben), David Watrous (Melissa), Samuel Bryan (Emry), Amy Nichols, Mat Todd (Summer), Mary Catherine Singleton (Matthew), Daniel Todd (Lacey), Nicholas Bryan (Brooke) and eighteen precious and loved great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Katy Warren Allison of Chattanooga TN and numerous nieces and nephews.
Annie Louise (Lou) graduated from Nashville, TN General Hospital in 1942 in the Nurse Cadet Corps program. She married the love of her life, Maurice Nichols (Major, Ret US Army) March 1, 1942 and spent twenty-eight years as an Army officer’s wife. The family enjoyed living in most of the Southern states as well as Japan and Germany while her husband Maurice was serving in the Army. She worked as a Registered Nurse for twenty-five years and retired in 1986 while working at Redstone Fox Army Hospital. From 1984-1988 she served along side her husband Mayor Maurice Nichols as “First Lady” of Athens, Alabama.
She was a faithful member of First United Methodist Church, Athens, Al and was a working member of UMW. She enjoyed membership in the Three Arts Club, The Athens Garden Club, Friends Bridge Club and the Frivolous Friends Red Hat Society. She enjoyed reading especially history and mysteries. She was a loving wife, beloved mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

The family would like to thank the staff, nurses, bath aides of Hospice of Limestone County for their faithful and loving care.
