Grady David “Red” McCary, 84, of Town Creek, passed away Monday, November 15, 2021 at North Alabama Medical Center. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM till 12:00 PM on Thursday, November 18, 2021 at Lawrence Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 12:00 PM in the funeral home chapel with Bro. Brandon Kerby and Bro. Dan Compton officiating.. Burial will be in Providence Cemetery.
Red was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, son, brother and friend. He liked to fish and have fish fry’s. When he was able he loved making a garden and he loved to hunt. Red especially loved spending time with his grandbabies and great-grandbabies. He was a big cut-up.
Survivors include his wife of sixty years, Betty Ann McCary; four daughters, Karen McCary, Lesa Kerby (Danny), Pam Garner, and Annette Witherspoon (Chris); one son, Michael Lee McCary (Robin); four grandson’s, Jarrod Kerby, Brandon Kerby, Justin McCary and Brent McCary; eight granddaughters, Chasity Compton, Amy Rutherford, Brittany White, Emily Graves, Ashley Ritchie, Auburn Miller, Heather Vinson and Katie Saxon; sixteen great grandchildren, one sister, Linda Norton (Roger) and many nieces and nephews; and he loved them all.
He was preceded in death by his son, David Scott McCary; his parents, Lily and Leonard McCary; his mother, Bertha Hester Garrison McCary, five brothers, Clayburn McCary, Almon McCary, Haskel McCary, Junior McCary and Daniel McCary; and one sister, Evelyn Burnett.
Pallbearers will be Gabe and Noah Compton, Jarrod Kerby, Cody Kerby, Garrett Miller and Brent McCary.
The family extends special thanks to Dr. McAnally; Hospice of North Alabama and staff, Lori and Lisa for their love and care and to Hatton Fire Department for always being there to help us when we called.
