Anna Walls, 89, passed away peacefully Monday. She was born in Fountain Green, MD. Anna was the beloved wife of the late Russell Kenneth Walls, Sr. who passed away August 5th, 2016. They married on October 29, 1944 in Bel Air, MD and celebrated 71 years of marriage in October 2015. Their first child Kenneth was born in December 1945 and their daughter Darlene was born in March 1947. Anna retired from Edgewood Arsenal in MD after 20 years of service. Anna and Russell moved many times after their marriage until their final home in Huntsville, AL. Anna enjoyed interior decorating which was evident in every home they owned. She loved her family, flowers (especially roses), traveling (summer trips to Fairbanks, AK to visit her daughter, son-in-law and their families) and good music. Anna was a special “Grammi” who the grandkids found out could be very sassy! She will be missed by all who knew her.
Anna was preceded in death by her parents, Pervis Blake and Helen Norine (Osborne) Burcham; sister, Arlene Burcham (Schafer); and her husband, Russell.
She is survived by her son, Russell Kenneth Walls (Vida) of Huntsville, AL; daughter, Darlene Walls Peterson (Laurence) of Fairbanks, AK; grandchildren, Hannah, Russell, Robert, Eric, Ryan (Charlotte) and Rachel (Michael); 2 great-grandchildren, Ebony and Nathaniel; brother, Pervis Burcham of Bel Air, MD; and sister, Ruth Adeline (Burcham) Schillinger of Ruston, LA.
A memorial service will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, October 9th, at Laughlin Service Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Cameron Douglas and Chaplain Todd Oldham officiating. Burial will be at the Alabama National Cemetery, Montevallo.
