Ann Mobbs Knowis, passed from this life to her eternal home in Heaven on December 18, 2024. Ann was born in Somerville, Alabama, on November 11, 1940, having just celebrated her 84th birthday. She was preceded in death by her parents, Major and Mable Mobbs; and two sisters, Brenda Mobbs Williams and Edna Mobbs Jackson. Ann is survived by her husband of 65 years, Ray Knowis; her son, Steve Knowis of Dayton, Ohio; three sisters, Sherry Mobbs Beck of Tullahoma, Bessie Mobbs Ireland of Lawrence County, and Sarah Mobbs Brown of Johnson City, TX; and one brother, Randy Mobbs of Ethridge, TN. Ann was a graduate of Lawrence County High School, Class of ’58 and Motlow College, Class of ’77. After graduation from Motlow, Ann was employed by the Tullahoma City School System where she worked with the Exceptional Children’s Program for 17 years, retiring to join her husband where he was working in Virginia. Ann was an exceptionally diligent homemaker taking care of the smallest, or largest details, allowing her husband, Ray, to pursue his professional and political careers. Ann had a love for children and worked in her church’s nursery for over 25 years. In 1986 Ann discovered what was to become a passion for the rest of her life: golf. She was very talented at the sport and was active in the Lakewood Ladies Golf Association and played weekly during the season in the ProAm golf series throughout Middle Tennessee with 3 of her special golfing lady friends. Ann, along with her husband, actually played golf in all 50 states, finishing in Fairbanks, Alaska. Ann and Ray celebrated 65 years of marriage recently on November 26. Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 22, 2024 from 4:00-8:00pm at Kilgore Funeral Home in Tullahoma. Visitation will also be held on Monday, December 23, 2024 at Tullahoma First Methodist Church from 9:00-10:00am with the funeral to immediately follow at 10:00am. Interment will be at the John Lay Cemetery in Ethridge, TN with graveside services being held Monday at 2:00pm. Pastors Kris Roberts and Rickey Wade will be officiating. If one wishes to honor Ann with a memorial, in lieu of flowers, donations to the Tullahoma Methodist Church Nursery ministry would be welcomed.
