Anita Sue Young, lovingly known as Mama and Nana, passed peacefully on June 10, 2026, at the age of 71.
Born on April 19, 1955, in Summertown, Tennessee, Anita spent her life creating comfort for the people she loved. Though often called a homemaker, that title barely scratches the surface of who she was. She had a gift for turning a house into a home, not through perfection, but through love. The kind of love found in everyday moments, shared laughter, familiar comforts, and the feeling that everything would somehow be okay when Mama was near.
Anita loved rainy days and quiet moments spent piddlin’ around the house. She could make something out of nothing and never seemed to need much to find joy. She was a free spirit in every sense of the word, fiercely protective of her peace and happiest when surrounded by the people she loved most. Nothing brought her more joy than laughing with her daughters and her grandbabies. Her love was woven into the lives of her family in ways that will continue long after her passing.
She is survived by her daughters, Jennifer Brooke Hatcher and Lori Brianne Young; her beloved grandchildren, Isabella Hatcher, Lucas Hatcher, and Adelaide Hatcher.
She was welcomed into Heaven by her mother, Mickey Walker, her father, Farris Walker; her cherished cat companion of 22 years, Sunny and her granddaughter, Emmaline.
In her final moments, Anita was exactly where she belonged, surrounded by love. She took her last breaths with her daughters by her side, holding their hands as they reminded her how deeply she was loved.
The world feels a little quieter without her in it, but the home she built inside the hearts of those who loved her remains. Her laughter, her strength, her free spirit, and the love she gave will be carried forward by her family every day.
She will be missed beyond measure and loved forever.
