Angela Dawn Covacevich Suggs, 59, of Ashland, passed away peacefully on July 17, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of strength, compassion, and unconditional love. She was born on April 23, 1966 in New Orleans, Louisiana to Joseph Keith and Sylvia Joan Covacevich; preceded in death by her father, Joseph Keith Covacevich, her precious Granny, Maxine Helena Covacevich, and uncle, Elwood Delahoussey.

She is survived by her devoted and loving husband, Leon Suggs, her beloved children, son Brandon Keith Suggs, and daughter Brittany Dawn (Jason) Freeman; her cherished grandchildren: Brianna Riley Freeman, Bryson Wayne Atchley, Kaylin Mackenzie Suggs, and Camryn Elizabeth Freeman all of Ashland, Alabama; loving mother Sylvia Joan (Wallace) Walding of Roanoke, Alabama; friend and sister Cheryl (Alex) Dimitry of the MS Gulf Coast; aunt Rosemary (Dennis) McMullen of Council Bluffs, Iowa, and uncle Wayne (Kathy) Hurley of Onalaska, Texas. She is also survived by her many nieces and nephews, each of whom shared a unique and special bond with her.

Angela’s early years were spent in Biloxi, Mississippi, where she made many meaningful and lasting memories. It was there, at St. Martin High School, that she met the love of her life, Leon. He spent much of his time chasing her all over town in his Mercury Cougar—determined to win her heart—and eventually, he did. They married in 1983 and began building their life together, eventually settling in Clay County in 1986. Although Alabama became her home, Angela remained closely connected to her Mississippi roots, returning to visit as often as possible.

A woman of many talents, Angela took on every role in life with confidence and excitement. She began her career at Robinson’s Sewing Factory, where her talent and dedication quickly stood out. She then chose to devote her time and efforts into being a stay-at-home mother—a role she deeply cherished. In 2003, she began a part-time job at Movie Gallery in Lineville, which eventually led to her joining the Corporate Training Division, where she traveled to over 40 states. Her strong work ethic, leadership, and kindness left a lasting impression on everyone she worked with.

In addition to her many ventures, Angela also created beautiful custom cakes for birthdays, weddings, baby showers, and other community events. It was a labor of love that brought joy to others and created lasting memories for many.

In 2010, Angela found an opportunity to channel her experience and creativity into something of her own. She proudly opened Britches & Bows, a boutique located on the square in Ashland. The shop became a true reflection of her determination and entrepreneurial spirit. She lovingly crafted custom shirts, hats, gifts, jerseys, trophies, and many other items, each one made with care and a personal touch. Angela also found joy in spreading smiles through her Frios Pops business, bringing happiness one frozen treat at a time. Her beloved popsicle trailer could often be found at local events, and she generously supported many schools and recreation programs through donations from the sales.

Angela enjoyed many hobbies over the years, but one of her absolute favorite pastimes was making a TJ Maxx and Chick-fil-A run with the girls. Whether close to home or traveling, she always knew exactly where to find both. It was her perfect combination of fun, food, and quality time.

But to Angela, the most important role she ever held was “Grammy,” not only to her grandchildren but to many others as well. Whether cheering on her grandchildren at sporting and dance events, she was always present, always supportive, and always “all in”. A problem-solver, a friend to all, a mentor, and a life coach who wanted everyone to succeed. She touched countless lives with her compassion and strength.

Though her physical presence is no longer with us, Angela’s legacy continues in the lives she nurtured, the values she passed on, and the memories she helped create. Her life was a beautiful testament to selflessness, fierce love, and unwavering generosity. She will be missed more than words can express.

Please join us for a Celebration of Life as we honor and remember Angela with love, laughter, and cherished memories. The celebration will be held on August 9th from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at My Moonlight Ridge, located at 44644 Hwy 77, Ashland, AL 36251.

In lieu of flowers, a benefit account has been established at First Bank of Alabama to assist with final expenses. The family deeply appreciates the support and kindness shown to them by the community during this time. A special thank you to Dr. David Hensleigh, his staff, and Clay County Hospital for providing excellent care and for showing love and compassion to our family.
