Andrew Claibourn “A.C.” Walker, 90, of Florence, passed away May 30, 2014 at his residence. He was a member of Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church. He was first and foremost, a true blue American. He taught us respect for our country and for the land that he loved so much. He was a lifelong custodian of that land, and raised 63 cotton crops. He ran a cotton gin for 29 years. He encouraged his daughters to have careers and be self-sufficient long before Women’s Lib came along. He loved spending time with his family. He was a World War II veteran, attending Naval Flight School. He always said he was a graduate of the School of Hard Knocks. We love him still. He will be forever in our hearts and our minds. We will miss him.
Visitation will be Sunday, June 1, 2014 from 6 – 8 p.m. at Greenview Funeral Home. The funeral service will be Monday, June 2, 2014 at 3 p.m. in Greenview Memorial Chapel with Howard McIntyre officiating. Burial will follow in Florence City Cemetery.

May the rains sweep gentle across your fields,
May the sun warm the land,
May every good seed you have planted bear fruit,
And late summer find you standing in fields of plenty.
