Alvia Lou Burleson, 80, of Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 11, 2014, at her daughter’s home in Bristol, Wisconsin, with her loving family by her side.
Born on March 13, 1934, in Mantachie, she was the daughter of the late Cecil and Opal Rowan Thornton. On August 3, 1948, she married Reverend Lyndon Burleson. He preceded her in death on January 23, 2001.
Alvia regularly attended Journey Church. She enjoyed family and provided marriage counseling. She had her own local cable television Bible study program, which she was very proud of. She also volunteered for Meals on Wheels. She was a loving mother of four, grandmother of eleven, and great-grandmother of nine.
Visitation will take place on Thursday, May 15, at Proko Funeral Home in Kenosha, Wisconsin, from 5 until 8 p. m.
Local services will be held Monday, May 19, (time to be announced) with burial in the Stevens Cemetery. McNeece-Morris Funeral Home of Mantachie is in charge of local services.
In lieu of flowers, a special donation to the pastor of your local church would be appreciated by the family.
