Funeral service for Alton Rayburn Smith, age 86, of Moulton will be 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 5, 2026, at Parkway Funeral Home Chapel with O. D. Bowling and Denny Bowling officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, September 4, 2026, at the funeral home. Interment will be in Midway Memorial Gardens. Mr. Smith, who died Tuesday, September 1, 2026, at his residence, was born March 4, 1940, in Alabama to John Grady Smith and Agnes Jones Smith. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Raymond Smith (Janette); and sisters, Mary Keenum (Eugene) and Betty Ann Sapp (G. W.). Alton was a member of County Line Church of Christ; he and his wife, Barbara, were married for 65 years. Alton lived in the Five Points Community since 1947, where he and his family owned and operated Smith’s Grocery in Five Points from October 1982 until 2002. Later, Alton spent his time fixing flats and selling tires and wheels from his shop. He was a devoted husband, father, and business man who enjoyed the work he did. A natural salesman, Alton answered his cell phone ring saying, “What ya tradin’ on?” Alton loved watching his daughters play sports and his granddaughters play sports and ride horses. His favorite hobby became spending time with his family and doing whatever his granddaughters wanted to do. He was known for his big smile, friendliness, and his servant’s heart. Alton was called many nicknames, but his very favorite was “Pazee,” named by his granddaughters, Lilly and Audrey.
He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara (Keenum) Smith; two daughters, Susan Smith Tribble (David) and Amy Smith Daniels (David); and granddaughters, Lilly Rae Tribble and Audrey Alise Tribble.
Pallbearers will be Mark Sapp, David Linderman, Mike Gillespie, Randall Thornton, Mark Clark, Darrell Black, Eric Grimes, and Tim Tucker. Honorary pallbearers will be family and his multitude of friends.
The family would like to express their special thanks to Hospice of the Valley and Kenni Jo Wallace for all their help and compassion during this difficult time.
