AltaAlta Erma Dyer Perine

Alta was born on January 8, 1920 in Washington, District of Columbia and grew up in our nation’s capital. She married Wilbur Boyd Perine, Jr. in 1939 and they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary a few months before he passed away. They are the parents of three daughters: Barbara Hymas (husband Randy), Nancy Whitten (husband Bob) and Donna Perine who passed away as a young child from leukemia in 1949.

Alta worked in the financial office of Potomac School in McLean, Virginia. She loved working there, not only because of her many friends, but because she loved being surrounded by children. Alta loved to dance and was an avid Redkins fan. She also loved people and always tried to see the good in others. She was a faithful member of the Church Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Alta was a the loving grandmother to six grandchildren: Rachael Hymas Mitchell (husband, David), Benjamin Hymas (wife, Sarah), Jason Hymas ( wife, Emily), Jessica Hymas Wilkerson (husband, Kevin), Wesley Whitten and Max Whitten. She has thirteen great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends, but we all take comfort in knowing she is having a joyful reunion with her husband, daughter, family and friends in heaven.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 6 at 10:30 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1325 Scotts Run Road, McLean, Virginia. Burial will take place at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Suitland, Maryland on the same day.
