Aline Llewellyn “Wellyn” Jones Parks, age 71, of Sheffield passed away on Sunday, July 12, 2015 after a brief illness. She was the daughter of the late Llewellyn Childress Jones and Gorman R. Jones, Jr. She graduated from Sheffield High School, attended Agnes Scott College, and graduated from the University of Alabama in 1967, where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority. Wellyn was a gifted artist, musician and seamstress. She founded a medical equipment company, loved painting, botany, animals, and cooking for her family.
She is survived by her sons, Michael G. Parks, of Baltimore, Maryland; and Burton K. Parks of Southern Pines, North Carolina; sisters Cecelia Jones Talley and husband David of Jacksonville, Alabama; Shaler Jones Gentry of Knoxville, TN; and brother, Dr. Gorman R. Jones, III of Birmingham; nephew, Brian P. Gentry and wife Sarah of Salt Lake City, Utah; and great-niece Elizabeth Gentry; and several cousins.
A graveside service will be held at Decatur City Cemetery, on Friday, July 17th, at 10:30 am with the Reverend Jania Alexander officiating. In lieu of flowers, a contribution to the Florence, Alabama branch of the P.A.W.S. pet rescue would be appreciated.
