Alice Nadine Evans, age 89, of Athens, passed away peacefully on September 18th, 2026. She was born on October 31st, 1936, to Lee Alvis Davenport and Effie Nora Pirtle Davenport.
Alice was a faithful member of Blackburn Road Baptist Church. She retired from Walmart after many years of dedicated service. Alice was a very artistic and talented woman who found great joy in painting, quilting, embroidery, and crocheting. Her creativity and handmade treasures brought beauty and warmth to the lives of those around her. Above all, she cherished her family and the time she spent with them.
She is survived by her daughters, Susan Gaines (Bobby) and Sarah Ray (Tommy); son, Chris Evans (Jessica); 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sisters, Nancy McCarthy and Linda Rankin; and brother, George Davenport.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 50 years, James Evans; son, Rex Evans; parents, Alvis Lee and Effie Pirtle Davenport; brother, Gerald Davenport; and sisters, Karen Davenport and Sarah Davenport.
Pallbearers will be her grandchildren. Isaac Evans will serve as honorary pallbearer.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 12:00 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Greg Patrick officiating. Burial will be at Roselawn Cemetery.
Alice will be deeply missed by her family and all who knew and loved her. Her loving spirit, artistic gifts, and beautiful memories will remain in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
