Alice June Prince Tomes, age 86 of Port St. Joe, Florida, passed away on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, at her residence. She was born in Sewanee, on May 25, 1938, to the late Jack Allen and Virginia (Hunziker) Prince. Before her retirement and move to Florida, June worked in Alumni Relations for the University of the South. She enjoyed passing the time reading, working on puzzles, and collecting shells, as well as spending time with her pets. She attended church at Church of Christ Midway and Port St. Joe Church of Christ. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Franklin Tomes; grandson, Jason Heath Kelley; siblings, Mary Elizabeth “Sissy” Sadler, Harold Prince, Jack Prince Jr, and Billy Prince; and brother-in-law, Clifford Douglas Tomes. June is survived by her loving children, Phyllis Kelley of Port St. Joe, Florida, and Bill Tomes and wife, Ann Buchanan, of Lynnhaven Florida; sister, Faye Dozier of Nashville; sister-in-law, Sharon Tomes of Sewanee; nephews, Colin Tomes of Mt. Juliet; great-niece, Isabel Tomes of Monteagle; several nieces and nephews; and special friend and caregiver, Vanessa Steele. Visitation will be from 5-8pm on Friday, May 9, 2025, at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 12:30pm on Saturday, May 10, 2025, in the Chapel of Moore-Cortner Funeral Home.
