Funeral for Algie “Bud” Dugger Jr., 81, of Athens will be Wednesday, February 4, 2015, at 1 p.m. at McConnell Memorial Chapel with Bud White officiating. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 9 at McConnell Funeral Home. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery.
Mr. Dugger passed away Sunday, February 1, 2015, at UAB Hospital. He was born November 29, 1933, in Limestone County to Algie D. Dugger Sr. and Ola Irvin Dugger. Mr. Dugger was a loving father and a member of Northside Church of Christ. He served in the Air Force for four years, and was retired from 3M Company in Decatur. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Roberta Dugger; three brothers, Joe Dugger, Lester Dugger, Melvin Dugger; one sister, Edna Crutchfield; and grandson, Jacob Dugger.
He is survived by one daughter, Regina Obarr and husband, Jerry; two sons, Ronnie Dugger and wife, Libby, and Bobby Dugger and wife, Debe; five sisters, Margaret Lovell, Florence Bowen and husband, Paul, Dot Miller, Betty Wales and husband, Pete, Janice Kennedy and husband, Bob; one brother, Billy Dugger; seven grandchildren, Amanda Cox and husband, Michael, Matthew Clem and wife, Samantha, Bethany King and husband, Marcus, Casey Anne Dugger, Mark Brown and wife, Melissa, Caleb Brown, Brooklyn Brewer; 13 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews; and a very special friend, Betty Johnson.
Pallbearers will be Larry Lovell, Matthew Clem, Glen Dugger, Tim Burns, Mark Brown and David Gooch.
Honorary pallbearers will be Stevie Lovell, Nick Lovell, Jonathan Kennedy, Jimmy Dugger and James Houser.
