ALEA Releases Statement On Officer-Involved Shooting In Florence

police_involved_shooting-1009FLORENCE-ALEA’s State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) released a statement on the officer involved shooting that took place early Sunday morning, April 17:

“Special Agents with ALEA’s State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) are investigating a Florence Police Department officer-involved shooting at the request of the Florence Police Department.  

The shooting occurred around 12:09 a.m. Sunday, April 17, at the intersection of Cox Creek Parkway and Cloverdale Road in Florence.  An officer was injured and airlifted to Huntsville Hospital in Huntsville. 

The involved subject was later located by law enforcement on Chisolm Road. Preliminary indications are the subject died of an apparent, self-inflicted, gunshot wound. 

Once the investigation is complete, the findings will be turned over to the Lauderdale County District Attorney. 

Nothing further is available as the investigation is ongoing.”
