Albert Leon Hill passed away peacefully on May 18, 2024, surrounded by loved ones in his home in Jackson, TN. He was born on August 14, 1934, in Hardeman County, TN. Albert lived a fulfilling life filled with love, service, and passion.
In his professional career, Albert worked for several years at Allied Signal Corporation as a parts and sales trainer. His commitment to excellence and his willingness to help others made him a cherished colleague and mentor.
Albert’s service to his country in the Navy during the Korean War was a source of great pride for him. He served as a Quarter Master aboard the USS Helena CA-75 and was part of the ship’s general quarters navigation team. Throughout his military career, Albert received several distinguished awards for his service, including the National Defense Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and Korean Presidential Unit Citation.
Outside of work and military service, Albert had a deep love for sports. He enjoyed watching baseball, football, and NASCAR races. He passionately supported Tennessee Vols football and the Chicago Cubs.
Albert was a proud member of the Republican party and East Union Baptist Church, He valued faith and community values above all else. His kindness and generosity touched the lives of many who had the privilege of knowing him.
Albert is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Melba Faye Murray Hill; daughter, Angela Yema (Rodney); sons Albert Hill Jr (Wendy), James Hill, Charles Hill, Anthony Hill (Lauren); as well as numerous grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, William Franklin Hill and mother, Alice Lavonia Cisco Hill.
A graveside service to honor and remember Al’s life will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 24, 2024 at Highland Memorial Gardens. The service will be a time for family and friends to come together to celebrate the remarkable life of Albert Leon Hill.
Albert will be remembered for his selflessness, his dedication to those he loved, and his unwavering commitment to serving others. His legacy will continue to inspire all those who were fortunate enough to have known him. May he rest in peace knowing that he made a positive impact on all who crossed his path.
