ALABAMA ARCHAEOLOGICAL SOCIETY SUMMER MEETING

FLORENCE-The Alabama Archaeological Society will hold its annual summer meeting at the Florence Indian Mound Museum on Saturday, August 6th, 2022, from 8:00am to 3:00pm. The meeting will consist of several presentations from archaeologists and historians working around the Florence area. The following is a list of presentations by time:

9:15—Marsha Holley and Daniel Rhodes, “Junior Archaeology Day at Pope’s Tavern”

9:30—Matt Gage, “Archaeological Investigations at Pope’s Tavern.

10:30—Thousand Eyes Program and Shoals Archaeological Stewardship

1:00—Alabama Trail of Tears Association

1:15—George Makowski, “Lauderdale County Cemetery Rehabilitation Authority”

2:30—Hunter Johnson, “Archaeological Investigations at the Florence Mound.”

This program is free and is sponsored by the Alabama Archaeological Society and the City of Florence Department of Arts and Museums. The Florence Indian Mound Museum is located at 1028 South Court Street, Florence, AL, 35630 and is open, Tuesday – Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Call 256-760-6427 for more information.
