Mrs. Agnes T. Moore, age 96, formerly of Whiteville, departed this life Tuesday, November 22, 2016 in Colorado.

The widow of Warren Newton Moore, who died on June 18, 2007, she was a retired school teacher, having taught in several education systems. She was born December 1, 1919 in Cypress, TN, daughter of the late John Thomas Howell and Essie Morphis Howell and lived most of her life around Whiteville. She married Warren Newton Moore in 1941 and they lived in Whiteville and then in the Vildo area since 1958, both teaching. She moved to Colorado in the spring of 2015. She loved teaching and spent her spare time in the garden, reading and creating various types of art. Some of her hobbies included collecting dolls and antiques. Mrs. Moore was a member of the Somerville Church of Christ.

Survivors include two daughters, Cary Hower of Urbana, IL and Thalia Burrows of Denver, CO; three sons, Newell Moore of Memphis, Harry Moore of Kalispell, MT and Terry Don Moore of Pleasureville, KY; three sisters, Nola Whitby of Oakland, Jennie Mayfield of Alabama and Johnnie Osborn of Ramer; 15 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Larry; 2 granddaughters, Larissa Moore and Erica Moore; and 4 brothers, Lee, Nile, Billie, and Culis Howell. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations in Mrs. Moore’s name be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
