A Personal Veteran’s Day Memorial

LAUDERDALE COUNTY – Sometimes it’s the small efforts. Those personal and quiet acts that create the most memorable experiences.

Yesterday was Memorial Day, with all the patriotic parades and the dedication of monuments. Cookouts and boat rides. It was perfect holiday, made possible by the blood, sweat and tears of so many Americans and their families. These big events are part of America. We’re big! And we do things in a big way.

It is a little known fact that Wayne Chaney has, for years played “Taps” in small settings to honor his Father, his friends and all those heroic American Men and Women who gave their lives upon the alter of Freedom. And so, at about dusk, Chaney played the tune to a small gathering of friends out at the Moose Lodge.

It was arguably the best Memorial Day event this writer attended.
