John Robert Swope, age 58, of Jackson, passed away on April 27, 2026, in Nashville surrounded by his family.

John was born on November 12, 1967, to Linda and Jim Swope in Martin, TN. The family moved to Jackson, where John attended Pope Elementary, North Side Junior High, and graduated from North Side High School. He later earned his bachelor’s degree in marketing and communications from the University of Central Oklahoma.

He was known for his lifelong love of the outdoors, taking every opportunity to hunt and fish. John also enjoyed sports, country music, and grilling with family and friends. John’s sense of humor, quick wit, and ability to make others laugh will be fondly remembered by all who knew him. He had a gift for brightening a room with his unforgettable smile, for which he often received compliments. Even during his lengthy hospitalization, nurses would stop by just to see this famous smile. It was a true testament to the genuine warmth, joy, and kindness he shared so naturally with others.

John was especially devoted to his children and grandchildren. They were the greatest joys of his life. He was their biggest cheerleader and supporter in all of their accomplishments and everyday moments alike. John’s family will always remember his loving and joyful spirit.
