Mr. Jessie Woodrow Lanier, age 80, of McMinnville, TN passed away on Saturday, April 25, 2026 at his residence. He was born on December 01, 1945 in Pulaski, TN. He was a well-known and respected biology and chemistry teacher at Warren County High School and was an educator for 33 years. He was an inspiration to many people in the community. Woodrow was a member of Christ Community Church, a devout Christian, and had the privilege of baptizing two of his grandchildren. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and being outdoors.

 

He leaves behind his wife of 62 years Dee Dee Lanier, children Jayson (Melanie) Lanier, Amy Black, and Tyla Grissom, grandchildren Justin (Maria) Lanier, Joshua Lanier, Joseph Lanier, Jesse (Shalonda) Boyd, Kayley Grissom, Aaron Grissom, and Adam Grissom, great grandchildren, siblings Sarah Kathryn Wilburn, Bobby (Beth) Lanier, Martha Sue (Joe) Bashears, and Gwynn (Bobby) Freman. He is preceded in death by his parents Pete Lanier and Martha Louise Robison Lanier and the rest of his siblings.

 

Funeral services for Woodrow Lanier are scheduled for 12:00 P.M. Tuesday, April 28, 2026 in the McMinnville Funeral Home Chapel. Jeremy Kliewer will officiate. Interment will follow at Mt. View Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. and again on Tuesday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service at 12:00 P.M. Noon.
