ALEA Conducting Marion County Child Exploitation Investigation

MARION COUNTY – On Friday, May 2, 2025, at the request of the Hamilton Police
Department, Special Agents assigned to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) State
Bureau of Investigation (SBI) launched an investigation concerning a child exploitation
investigation involving a School Resource Officer with the Hamilton Police Department.

Mardrea Dashawn Massey

The suspect, identified as Mardrea Dashawn Massey, 31, of Sulligent, was temporarily serving
as a School Resource Officer with the Hamilton Police Department when the investigation
began.

ALEA SBI completed its investigation and turned over the case file to the Marion County
District Attorney’s Office. The case was presented to a Marion County Grand Jury on Monday,
April 13, 2026, which resulted in the indictment of Massey on charges of a School Employee
Engaging in a Sex Act with a Student Under the Age of 19 and School Employee Distributing or
Soliciting Obscene Material to or from a Student. Massey was booked into the Marion County
Jail.
