Stephen F. Romeo, 77 years of age, of Arab, Alabama passed away surrounded by family at his
home on Sunday, April 12, 2026. He was born in Port Arthur, Texas, on October 29, 1948,
where he was a resident until moving to Arab in 2019. Steve attended and graduated from
Thomas Jefferson High School in 1967. He continued his education by attending and graduating
from the University of Texas at Austin with a BS in 1970 and a BA in 1976. Steve tried his hand
in many areas of employment, including Lockheed Electronics and Travis County Sheriff’s
Department in Texas, until he found his calling in real estate. He continued the family tradition
in Romeo Real Estate until moving to Arab and joining the Matlock Realty Group, where he
continued as a broker associate until the end. Steve lived a full and joyous life and enjoyed many
hobbies, including sailing, Texas Longhorns football, and traveling. He held a great love for all
of his friends and family. Steve also had a love for cooking and was an avid “Jeeper”.
Steve is preceded in death by his parents, Dominic J. Romeo and Catherine Eloise Romeo. He is
survived by his wife of 35 years, Lezlie Armentor, daughter Shanna and Abraham Trejo of Arab,
grandsons Blake and Sydney Trejo of Arab, Aiden, Adrian, and Bentley Trejo of Arab, and
great-grandson Houston Trejo of Arab.
There will be a celebration of life announced at a later date at St. Williams Catholic Church in
Guntersville. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Huntsville Hospital Foundation:
Parkinson’s Care Clinic, which he was very passionate about.
The Romeo family would also like to thank the staff of SouthernCare New Beacon for their
unwavering care and support during these times, and the staff at the Huntsville Hospital
Foundation: Parkinson’s Care Clinic. The family wishes to express their thankfulness to
everyone that has helped ease this difficult situation.
