Funeral services for Mrs. Nadine Wheeles Kennedy, age 92 of Ashland, will be held on Tuesday, April 7, 2026 at 2:00 pm at First Baptist Church of Ashland with Bro. Ben Rosser officiating. Burial will follow in Clay County Memory Gardens.
Nadine, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 3 at Hanceville Nursing Home. She was a devoted Christian, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother as well as a loving neighbor and friend to so many in the Ashland community.
Nadine was born on May 3, 1933, in Ashland, AL. She married the love of her life, James M Kennedy (deceased) in 1951. She had lived in Gadsden, Talladega and moved back to Ashland in 1964. She was retired from Russell Manufacturing although she had worked various jobs into her 80’s. She was an active member at First Baptist Church, as well as teaching kindergarten there for many years. She loved to be outdoors, especially working in her yard. She loved traveling and visiting her children and grandchildren. She was an avid Auburn supporter/fan.
Nadine is survived by her daughters, Wanda Collins (Roy) of Hanceville, AL; Kim Moss (Scott) of Lacey’s Spring, AL; and her son, Tim Kennedy (Delores) of Acworth, GA; her grandchildren, April Brand of Homewood, AL, Courtney Waters (Ryan) of Cullman, AL, Drew Kennedy (Morgan) of Chelsea, AL, and Kara Fletcher (Brent) of Huntsville, AL; her great grandchildren, Reese and Whitt Waters, Elliot Fletcher and Chloe Kennedy.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Melvin Kennedy; parents, William and Mary Wheeles; siblings, Angie Wheeles Denney, WC Wheeles, Ida Wheeles Randall, Mamie Wheeles Kennedy, Glenda Wheeles Amason, John Wheeles, and Mike Wheeles.
Pallbearers will be Alan Wheeles, Brian Randall, Todd Wheeles,Phil Kennedy, Drew Kennedy, Jeff Amason and Kevin Amason.
Her visitation will take place before the service on Tuesday, April 7, 2026 at First Baptist Church of Ashland from 12:00-2:00.
