John William Blomgren, age 73, passed away at his home in the Union Hill community of Morgan County, Alabama, on Monday, March 30, 2026. Born in Lakeland, Florida, on November 27, 1952, John was the son of V. F. Blomgren and Merle Morris Blomgren. He shared over seventeen wonderful years of marriage with his wife, Terry Lynn McAlpin. John was a member of the Morgan City Church of God and dedicated much of his professional life to Walmart, where he was a valued associate.
John was an enthusiastic outdoorsman who loved fishing and hunting. He often created his own lures, jigs, and rods. He had a fondness for singing, even if he was often off key and occasionally missed a few notes. Most of all, John cherished his family, he was always full of life and brought joy and laughter to those around him with his fun-loving personality.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Terry Blomgren; son, Shawn Blomgren (Bonnie); daughter, Becky Caldwell (Rob); stepdaughter, Amanda Haga (Patrick); grandchildren, Chad Blomgren, Autumn Blomgren, Kyle Blomgren, Alex Caldwell (Ashley), Carrie Kasper (Tyler), Zachary Caldwell, Laurel Haga, Hunter Bounds (Shea), and Tristan Bounds; great-grandchildren, Adelynn Caldwell and Bree Bounds; brother, Dan Combee (Marie); and special brother, Gene McCormick.
Preceding John in death were his parents, V.F. and Merle Blomgren; his first wife, Karen Edwards Blomgren; and his brother, Richard Blomgren.
Visitation, a time to reminisce, share, acknowledge and honor John will be 11:30am until 1:30pm at Brindlee Mountain Chapel on Friday, April 3, 2026. A graveside service will be at 2:00pm at Rescue Cemetery with Brother Roland Cornwell officiating. Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel is assisting with arrangements.
