Howard D. Manford Eidson, age 91, of Greenbrier, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on March 23, 2026. Born on February 19, 1935, Mr. Eidson lived a long and meaningful life devoted to his family, his country, and his community. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of over 57 years, Thelma Allgood Eidson; his parents, Elford and Mary Turner Eidson; and his brother, Elford Eidson Jr.
Howard is survived by his loving son, Terry (Alice) Eidson. He was a proud grandfather to Amanda (Matthew) Dunlap and Joshua (Rachel) Eidson, and a cherished great-grandfather to Monroe and Howard Dunlap, Olivia, Kaitlyn, Henry, and Jack Eidson. He is also survived by his sister, Carolyn Meyer, along with several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, and his special friend and companion, Betty Holt.
Mr. Eidson proudly served his country in the United States Army as a member of the 11th Airborne Division, serving as a paratrooper following the Korean War.
Funeral Services will be held at 2pm, Thursday, March 26th in the Chapel of Austin & Bell Funeral Home, 2619 Hwy 41S., Greenbrier, TN with Bro. Donnie Bryant officiating and Interment following in Springfield Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends 5pm until 7pm on Wednesday, March 25, 2026 and again on Thursday, March 26, 2026 at the funeral home.
Howard will be remembered for his incredible work ethic and the pride he took in providing for his family. He shared a particularly close and enduring bond with his only son, Terry, and together they spent many years owning and operating their own business, building not only a livelihood but a legacy of dedication and perseverance. His unwavering commitment to his family, his quiet strength, and the example he set through a lifetime of hard work will be deeply missed and long remembered by all who knew and loved him.
