Paul Marcus Hamilton, Sr., known as Marcus to family and friends, passed away on March 17, 2026, at the age of 82. Born on May 7, 1943, to Horace and Hattie Mae Hamilton, Marcus lived a life centered on family, hard work, and service to others.
Marcus was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Hamilton, and his son, Mike Hamilton. He is also preceded in death by his siblings Thomas Hamilton and Mary Basselin. He leaves behind a loving family who will cherish his memory: his siblings James Hamilton, Ronnie Hamilton, and Rickey Hamilton; his sons Marc Hamilton and wife Kathy, Jason Hamilton and wife Crystal, and daughter-in-law Peggy Hamilton. He was also blessed with grandchildren Laura Spencer, John Hamilton, Jessica Bearden, Ashley Fleischmann, Dr. Joey Hamilton, Dillon Hamilton, and Jalee Grant, along with great-grandchildren Gracie Harris, Arthas Hamilton, Aquiles Cervantes, Max Hamilton, Abigale Harris, Alexander Hamilton, Lily Fleischmann, Brynlee Grant, and Jack Fleischmann.
Formerly of Owens Crossroads, Alabama, Marcus was known to many as the owner and operator of Jif-E Mart, where he worked faithfully until retirement. After retirement, he continued doing what he loved by raising and selling produce, keeping bees for honey, and butchering venison, remaining connected to the community he had long served.
After suffering a stroke in 2016, Marcus spent the last ten years of his life living with his sons, surrounded by family. That time reflected what mattered most in his life: closeness, care, the love of family and catfishing.
Marcus will be remembered for his quiet strength, steady work ethic, love for family, and the many ways he continued to serve others throughout his life. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Funeral arrangements are being managed at New Hope Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Sunday, March 22 from 5PM to 8PM. PreService visitation will open at 10:00AM on Monday March 23, with Services beginning at 11:00AM. Burial will follow at Huntsville Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
