Harlan La’Shane NeSmith, known to everyone as Shane, age 45, of Guntersville, Alabama, passed away at his home Monday, March 16,2026. Shane was born on September 16, 1980, in St. Clair County, Alabama, to Patti Morrow and Harlan NeSmith.

Shane is survived by his parents, Patti Morrow and Harlan NeSmith; his brothers, Chad NeSmith (Amy) and Byron NeSmith; and his sister, Maranda Criscoe (Jeremy). He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews whom he loved as his own, along with a host of extended family and friends who will miss him dearly.

Shane was one of a kind-full of life, laughter, and a spirit that could never be tamed. There was never a dull moment when he was around. Known for being a true jokester, he could make anyone laugh in a heartbeat as well as his wild stories in which you never knew which ones to believe and which ones not to believe but they had you laughing anyways.

Shane had a deep love for the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting with his coon dogs, running his beagles chasing rabbits, and spending time with his roosters. In recent years, Shane made a meaningful change in his life-he turned his life around and found comfort and strength in his faith. He loved reading his Bible and grew in his relationship with the Lord, something that brought him peace and purpose.

Shane will be remembered for his laughter, his wild stories, his love for the outdoors, his family and the way he made life more interesting for everyone around him. He will be deeply missed and forever loved.

Visitation with the family will be Saturday 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Calvary Church, located at 9802 Highway 36 East, Lacey’s Spring, Alabama. A celebration of Shane’s life will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Calvary Church, Services will be provided by New Hope Funeral Home. Officiating will be Preachers Corey Morrow and Junior Summerford, with special words shared by Jimmy Duke and Maranda Criscoe. Pallbearers will be SPC Joseph Barnett, Cameron Walker, Josh Summerford, Carter Morrow, Brian Wimberly, Kenny Morrow, and Michael Summerford.

Interment will be in Fields Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to New Hope Funeral Home to assist with funeral expenses.
