A Graveside Service will be held at Hartselle City Cemetery on March 18, 2026, at 2:00 PM. Peck Funeral Home will be directing the service. William Lee Hendon passed away on August 18,2023, at his Chiropractic Office at Lennox Village in Nashville, TN. He was born on February 5, 1967, in Ardmore, Oklahoma, to Major William Atley Hendon and Katherine Edith Phelps Hendon.
William was known as the “Gentle Chiropractor” and had been in practice for several years.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Major William Atley Hendon, who was killed in Vietnam on November 6,1966, before Willam was born. His mother Katherine Edith Phelps died October 18, 2022, in Cleveland, Tennessee in Life Care Nursing Facility. His Step-father- John Paul Johnson, Sr. (Katherine’s second husband) passed away at Life Care Center in Cleveland, Tennessee, on February 23, 2012. Also preceding him were his grandparents- Spurgeon “Spud” Hendon and Mary Francis Carter, Roy Phelps and Florence Seaton, and his aunt and uncle- Virginia and Paul Wolf.
Survivors include William “Bill” Phelps (Susie) of Dallas, Texas, Martha Cohan (Paul), of Woodland Hills, CA, his sisters- Mary Shinkle (Leo) of Chillicothe, OH, Laura Nelson (Terry) of McDonald, TN and half Brother- Donald Harold Johnson (Dana), of Jacksonville, FL, Step-brothers and sisters- Brenda Allen, of Hartselle, AL, John Paul Johnson, Jr. (Cindy) of Orlando, FL, Teresa Cooper (Greg), of Mulberry, FL, and thirteen nieces and nephews.
