Delbert Lyons, 73, passed away on Friday, March 13, 2026, at NMMC-Tupelo, MS. Born on August 6, 1952, in Dorsey, MS, Delbert was one of a set of twin boys to Paul and Ila Mae Galloway Lyons. He was a proud 1971 graduate of Algoma High School. Delbert enjoyed playing cards with his friends at the club, had a passion for classic cars, and was an avid sports fan, especially of Ole Miss football. He was a devoted father and grandfather.
He is survived by his wife, Donna Lyons, and his daughters, Jennifer Lyons, Jessica Lyons Crane, and Harley Lyons, all residing in Pontotoc. He also leaves behind his sisters, Betty Whitten and Laura Franklin (Donald) of Pontotoc, and Nancy Phillips (Ronny) of Tupelo, along with his cherished grandchildren, Samuel Chase Hunter, Jacob ‘Hook’ Crane II, Evie Kate Crane, Summer Sullivan, and Jules Rae Crane. Delbert is also remembered by numerous nieces and nephews.
Delbert was preceded in death by his parents, his seven brothers, Clyde, Gene, James, Wayne, Clint, Sam, and his twin brother, Elbert Lyons, as well as two sisters, Barbara McAlpin and Hazel Houston, and his brother-in-law, Joe Phil Whitten.
Delbert gave the final gift of life through organ donation, allowing others to receive hope and healing.
Funeral services will be held at 2PM on Monday, March 16, 2026, at Baldwin Memorial Funeral Home in Pontotoc, with Dr. David Hamilton officiating. Visitation will begin at 12PM and continue until the service time. Burial will follow in Pontotoc Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will include Jay and Nick Carroll, Roger Lyons, Dennis and Michael Lyons, David McAlpin, Glynn Franklin, and Hook Crane.
