FLORENCE-Saturday, March 7 was an unbelievable day for the Citywide Cleanup. Thanks to an incredible community effort, 142 volunteers collected more than 1,300 pounds of trash from around our City.

We are so grateful for everyone who came out and the many organizations that helped make the day possible, including Junior League of the Shoals, Urban Forestry, Recycling, Solid Waste & Recycling, the Florence Launch Students, Forest Hills students, the Florence Street Department, Customer Service, Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, UNA Football, the 115th ESB National Guard, Sherrod Avenue Church of Christ, Dwelling Place, Common Ground Shoals, the Animal Shelter, Town & Gown/UNA, Renaissance Shoals (Marriot), Kingdom Academy, the Florence Cemetery, Cub Scouts Pack 285 and ROTC.

A special thank you also goes to Mayor Tyler, Council members Chapel King, Kaytrina Simmons, Thomas Spence, and Jackie Hendrix, who did more than support the effort. They rolled up their sleeves and cleaned alongside the volunteers.

If you were not able to join us on Saturday, you can still help keep Florence beautiful. Just reach out, and we will provide cleanup supplies. Call 256-760-6495 to get started.
