Neila Sue Staton Buckelew of Snead, Alabama, age 74, passed away Friday, March 6, 2026, just after midnight at Shepherd’s Cove.
Neila spent over 40 years with H&R Block as a tax return preparer and as a bookkeeper, where she made lasting relationships with so many of her clients.
Starting in the first grade Brenda Blackmon West was her “best” friend and remained so for life. For the last few years, Tommy Williams has been her special friend and a godsend. Neila loved Alabama football and listening to Eli Gold on the radio. She was a huge Elvis Presley fan, collecting his albums and memorabilia. When she was younger, she played the piano. She was also the manager of the old Martin Theatre in Albertville.
Neila is survived by her son, Tommy Robertson and Rachel Arth; brothers, Kerrell Watts, Kenneth (Diane) Watts, and Byron (Stacy) Watts; sisters, Gail Jenkins and Denise Staton. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Rickey Buckelew; father, John Edwin Staton; mother, Lena Lou Watts; stepfather, Ethridge Buel Watts; brother, Shaun Watts; and sister, Sharon Brown.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 11, 2026 at 2:30 PM at Adams Brown Service Chapel with Bro. Ricky Harcrow officiating. Burial will follow at Zion Hill Cemetery in Horton, Alabama. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 1:00 PM until 2:30 PM at Adams Brown Service Funeral Home.
