Harold Beckwith, age 74 of Florence, Alabama sadly passed away on February 20, 2026 after a long battle with Parkinson’s and heart disease. Harold was born to Johnson Beckwith, Jr. and Millie C. Ragland Beckwith on June 14, 1951. After graduating from Burrell Slater High School, he went on to obtain both a Baccalaureate and Master’s degrees in Business Administration from the University of North Alabama prior to leading a long and successful career in the telecommunication industry with AT&T.

Throughout his life he was an active member of many community organizations including the YMCA participation with the 20 Distinguished Men of the Shoals, the Boy Scouts of America (Troop Leader), and the Bethel Lauderdale Missionary Baptist Church, where he served as Head of the Deacon Board.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Johnson and Millie C. Beckwith; sister, Ruth Beckwith Williams; and brother, Johnson Curtis Beckwith, Sr.

He leaves to cherish his memories a devoted wife of 46 years, Idena Beckwith; children, Heather Beckwith, Kristopher Beckwith, and Andrew Beckwith (Amelia); two grandchildren, Aundraya Beckwith and Julian Beckwith; sisters, Margaret Woods, Anita Pringle, Josephine Ford, and Hazel Johnson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

His family will forever remember him as a kind and loving father with boundless patience and an endless supply of daddy jokes. He was the type of man who understood the value of faith and persistence above all else, who taught his children to strive to achieve the best with their capabilities, and who was always present as a calm rock in the storm of life. To his wife, he was a loving husband, provider, and friend.

A Celebration of Life will be announced soon.
