James W. Phillips Profile PhotoJames W. Phillips, born on March 19, 1933, in Guys, Tennessee, was the son of the late Luther and Anna Forsythe Phillips. He attended school at New Hope, which was located beside his beloved church, where he became a lifelong member.

On August 20, 1953, James was united in marriage to Thelma Lucille Breedlove, who preceded him in death on August 1, 2017. Together, they built a family that brought joy and love into their lives.

Mr. Phillips dedicated 38 years of his career to Coca-Cola, following an earlier stint at Ford Motors in Memphis. His work ethic was evident throughout his life.

An avid outdoorsman, he had a love for fishing and hunting. He also found great pleasure in working in his yard and garden.

Mr. Phillips departed this life on February 16, 2026, in Guys, Tennessee, at the age of 92 years, 10 months, and 28 days. He is survived by his daughter, Lisa Boman and her husband Bobby of Gautier, Mississippi; three grandchildren, Blake Patrick of Guys, TN, Ty Matlock and his wife Cassady of Middleton, TN, and Dylan Matlock and his wife Lindsay of Stantonville, TN; as well as three great-grandchildren, Connor Matlock, Mylo Matlock, and Lyla James Matlock, alongside a host of extended family.

In addition to his beloved wife and parents, Mr. Phillips was preceded in death by his daughter, Kathy R. Hodum; three brothers, Alton, Joe, and A.C. Phillips; and a sister, Bertha Farris.

James W. Phillips will be remembered for his faith, dedication to family, and strong work ethic.
