Officer Involved Shooting In Albertville

ALBERTVILLE-At approximately 7:30 p.m. yesterday evening, officers responded to a report of a fight in the 100 block of Bobwhite Drive. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male who had allegedly been assaulted by an adult male family member. Officers were able to get the victim to safety.
As officers approached the suspect’s residence, they were met with gunfire. Officers returned fire, and the suspect fled back into the residence. Additional officers arrived on scene, a perimeter was established, and officers attempted to have the suspect exit the residence peacefully.
The suspect refused to exit the residence, and the Marshall County Joint Special Response Team was activated. After an approximately two-hour standoff, the suspect agreed to come out of the residence and was taken into custody without further incident.
The suspect was transported by ambulance to the hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound. The suspect is listed in serious condition but is expected to survive.
The department would like to express its appreciation to the following agencies for their assistance during this incident: the Marshall County Joint Special Response Team, the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department, the Guntersville, Boaz, and Douglas Police Departments, the Marshall County District Attorney’s Office, Homeland Security Investigations, Albertville Fire & Rescue, and Marshall Health Systems.
We are extremely grateful that no officers were injured during this incident and would like to commend all those involved for the bravery and professionalism they displayed in helping bring this dangerous situation under control.
Pursuant to department policy and protocol, the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s State Bureau of Investigation has been contacted and will conduct an independent investigation into the incident. This is an ongoing investigation, and additional information will be released as it becomes available through the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.
