William Barksdale Rivers Funeral service for William Barksdale Rivers, 91, will be Thursday, January 22, 2026 at 2:00 PM at Somerville Church of God with Rev. Pearl J. Jenkins officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.    Burial will be in Somerville Church of God Cemetery.  Visitation will be Thursday, January 22, 2026 from 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM at Somerville Church of God.

Mr. Rivers passed away on Tuesday, January 20, 2026 at The Terrace At Priceville.  He was born September 1, 1934, in to Willie Bryant Rivers and Fannie Louisa Hodges Rivers.

He was employed by the Army at Redstone Arsenal as an Electronics Technician, prior to his retirement. He also was a United States Air Force Veteran and a devout Christian man. Mr. Rivers was a loving family man and a wonderful father and grandfather. He loved his wife, Charlynn Rivers, who he was married to for almost 55 years,  prior to her passing. He always gave her roses. He loved flowers, and enjoyed gardening and doing yardwork. He raised cattle and worked on his farm.

Preceding him in death were his wife, Charlynn Bennett Rivers, a daughter- Melanie Diane Rivers McGee, Sister- Julia Christine Rivers, and brothers – W.C. Rivers and Wayne Rivers.

Survivors include:

Daughters- Sherry Lynn Rivers Sharp (Carlton), and
Tammy Annette Rivers Baker (Tim)

Sister – Bulia Charlene Bingham

Brother – William Earl Rivers

Grandchildren – Diana King (Heath), Daniel McGee (Brooke), Emily Hargrove (Corey), Adam Sharp (Leah), Bethany Reid (Cody), Courtney McGee and Audrey Baker.

Great Grandchildren – Lucas, Natalie, Wyatt, Hagen, Brilee, Joseph, Ellie, Elijah, Austin, Avett, Charlotte and Hudson

Great Great Grandchildren – Harper, Hollynd, Taytum Klaire, and Bennett (On the Way)

Pallbearers will be Adam Sharp, Daniel McGee, Lucas Hagamaker, Hagen Sharp, Tim Baker, Joseph Glaze, Cade Mims, Carlton Sharp, Elijah Glaze, Mason Humphrey and Heath King.
