Jeffrey “Jeff” D. Saxon Jr., 34, of Huntsville passed away unexpectedly on January 5, 2026, at Huntsville Hospital. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, the outdoors, woodworking, talking, and especially joking around with everyone. He won numerous duck calling contests at a young age and loved to hunt ducks for the rest of his life. He graduated from the University of Alabama Huntsville with a degree in civil engineering. Jeff was a Stress Analysis Engineer working for NASA through GeoControl. Not only was he fluent in working stress analysis problems for NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center, he also was excellent in performing concrete analysis for all of the different test projects given to his ET50 Branch where he worked. He was very well liked and thought of by ALL of his peers and was a complete joy to work with. Not only will his structural engineering expertise be missed, but also his ability to lighten the mood of a meeting or conversation by inserting a subtle humorous comment. His co-workers said they will “always be thankful for the time/privilege of working with our buddy ‘Saxon’.”

He will truly be missed by friends and family. He is survived by his parents, Jeff Saxon (Janice) and Alesia Smith (JT); sisters, Jessica Griner, Christina Saxon, and Laramie Saxon; brother, Stephen Saxon; nephews, PJ and Mason Griner; niece, Makenzie Griner; and grandmothers, Virginia Saxon and Barbara Crim. He is preceded in death by grandfathers, RD Saxon and James P. Crim. Pallbearers will be Shane Crim, Ryan Duncan, PJ Griner, Stephen Saxon, Phil Shriner, and Alex Stephan. Honorary pallbearers will be Cohen Duncan and Mason Griner.

The family would like to thank Doctor Molina and the staff of Huntsville Hospital for providing emergency medical care. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the American Heart Association or a charity of your choice. And above all, his family asks for your prayers as they move forward without him.

Visitation is this Sunday afternoon, January 11th, from 12:30 to 2:30 pm at Laughlin Service Funeral Home in Huntsville. A graveside sermon and burial are planned following visitation at 3:00 pm at Maple Hill Cemetery with Reverend Gerald Taylor officiating.
