Barbara Ann McWhorter Ponder Gaspard; 78 of Helena passed away Friday, January 2, 2026, at her residence. She was born June 1, 1947, in Arab the daughter of Bueman McWhorter and Florence Leak McWhorter. She was a graduate of Arab High School and received her nursing degree from Wallace State Community College.
She is survived by her children: Jonathan Dale Ponder, Rebecca Boothe and Michael Ponder; eight grandchildren and one great grandchild; host of nieces, nephews and other relatives. She is preceded in death by a son: Timothy Wavis Ponder; parents: Bueman & Florence McWhorter; brothers: Billy Ray McWhorter and Gary McWhorter.
Graveside Service will be 3:00 p.m. Monday, January 12, 2026, at New Canaan Cemetery, Arab, Gober Funeral Chapel directing.
Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Sunday at Gober Funeral Chapel
