Cathryn Kaye “Cathy” Cates, 70, passed away Friday, January 2, 2026 at North MS Medical Center in Tupelo, MS. She was born in Houston, TX to Jerry Edward and Ruth Jackson Adkison. She worked as a supervisor at Best Buy and was a Member of Trinity Assembly of God Church in Red Bay. Cathy was very loving and was an amazing grandmother and friend to all her knew her.
Graveside services will be Sunday, January 4, 3:30 p.m. at Red Bay City Cemetery with Bro. David Kelley officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, 1-3 at Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, AL. Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, AL will be in charge of arrangements.
She is survived by her husband, Doug Cates; two daughters, Tiffany Cates and Kayla Gentry (Jake); grandchildren, Jyden Ford, Katie Gentry, Jalyn Kirkhoff, Aryana Neighbors, Jordyn Kirkhoff, Erinessa Neighbors and Jazzlyn Kirkhoff; her brother, Larry Adkison; sister, Kim Vinson (Larry) and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Heather Cates; her parents; uncle, Jr. Adkison and sister-in-law, Trina Adkison.
Pallbearers will be Doug Cates, Jake Gentry, Kayla Gentry, Tiffany Cates, Jyden Ford and Jalyn Kirkhoff.
