Janet Lynn Privas Janet Lynn Privas of Huntsville, Alabama, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Friday, December 19, 2025 at the age of 73. She was a devoted sister, a loving aunt, and a loyal friend whose strength and joy of life left a lasting mark on everyone who knew her.

Janet was born on August 17, 1952. She was raised in Pompano Beach, FL and spent most of her life in South Florida and Paris France. She lived her final years in Huntsville, AL. She faced life’s challenges with courage and energy, never losing her sense of humor or her concern for those around her. Those close to her were accustomed to getting calls from her to check up on them and let them know she still cared about and loved them.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Yves Privas. She is survived by her son, Tanguy “Manu” Privas, and her siblings Bill Carswell, Cathy Albright, Mona Kobishop, Stuart Zimmerman, Karrie Baas, John Baas, Casey Baas and Erika Carswell, as well as all her nieces and nephews whom she considered to be the children she never had.

In accordance with her wishes, Janet will be cremated and her remains will be spread over the Atlantic Ocean. Her service is scheduled for Friday, January 16, 2026 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Delray, Beach FL.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Janet’s memory to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church of Delray Beach.

Her love remains with us, and her memory will be carried forward by all who knew her.
