Notice for Robert Haddon Palmer

Robert Haddon Palmer, 78, passed away on Monday, December 15, 2025, at the Sanctuary Hospice House. He was born April 28, 1947, in Baldwyn, to Haddon and Ruth Hopkins Palmer. He received his bachelor’s and master’s Degree from Mississippi State University. In his earlier years, he taught school at Lawhon School in Tupelo and WP Daniel in New Albany. He owned and operated Palmer Billiards, where he and his father built pool tables. He and his wife later started J&R Communications, which they owned and operated for over 20 years. He was a former Deacon at First Baptist Church in Baldwyn. He enjoyed watching NASCAR and woodworking, especially with his grandchildren.

Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 18, at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Mantachie with Bro. Bryan Horner officiating. Scott Clouse will deliver the eulogy. Burial will be in the Fawn Grove Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Janette Clouse Palmer; three daughters, Lacey Conaway (Michael) of Walls, MS, Marcia Garrett (Ray) of Oxford, MS, and Hilary Hamblin (Josh) of Olive Branch, MS; seven grandchildren, Victoria Garrett, Alexander Garrett, Isabella Conaway, Joel Conaway, Steele Conaway, Malcolm Hamblin, and Katie Hamblin.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Pallbearers will be Scott Clouse, Craig Clouse, Jacob Clouse, Brandon Moss, Bill Grimes and Forrest Barber.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 5:00-8:00 p.m., and on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home in Mantachie.
