Daryl Lynn Sammet, 72, of Athens, passed away on Saturday, November 22nd, 2025, at his residence. He was born on October 19th, 1953, in Limestone County, Alabama, to Charlie and Helen (Woodfin) Sammet.
He is survived by his sons, Justin Sammet (Erica) and Dickie Sammet (Stephanie); daughter, Mollie Biase (Tony); fiancée of twenty-two years, Rhonda Baldwin; brother, Barry Sammet; sister, Susan Romero (Carlos); grandchildren, Jackson, Bryson, Easton, Kaelyn, Carter, Madalynn, Mason Sammet, and Kinsley Biase; great-grandchild, Waylon Sammet; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Mr. Sammet was preceded in death by parents, Charlie and Helen Sammet.
The funeral service for Mr. Sammet will be Saturday, November 29th, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home. Visitation will be Friday, November 28th, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., at Limestone Chapel. Pallbearers will be LaDon Townsend, Derrick Gatlin, Mark Massey, Jim Swanner, Dennis Wallace, Dusty Wallace, Drew Dill, and Hunter Daws. Honorary pallbearers will be Collin Daly, Ralph Fowler, David Ruff, Phillip Dean, Jason Black, Danny Crawford, Andy Whitt, Joshua McLaughlin, John Blankenship, and Tom Bulter. The burial will be at Germantown Cemetery.
Mr. Sammet served four terms as county commissioner of Limestone County, Alabama, and won several awards.
