Evelyn Janette Stepp, 86, peacefully passed away on Sunday, November 9, 2025 at Burns Nursing & Rehab in Russellville, AL where she was a resident since 2018. She was born August 30, 1939 in Red Bay, AL to Roy Cayce Stepp and Edna Yielding Stepp. She was a lifetime resident of Red Bay and a graduate of Red Bay High School. She was a member of Red Bay Free Will Baptist Church and worked at Lance Garment for many years.
She was a loving sister and aunt and a wonderful life example. She loved nothing more than having her family together. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Services will be Wednesday, November 12, 2 p.m. at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel, Red Bay, AL with Bro. Steve Lindsay and Bro. Dallas Culver officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, November 12, 12-2 p.m. at Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, AL. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, AL will be in charge of arrangements.
She is survived by two sisters, Nancy Lynch and Brenda Massey; one brother, Keith Stepp (Kay); sister-in-law, Carolyn Stepp and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Riley Stepp and brothers-in-law, Harold Lynch and Rayburn Massey.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Massey, Terry Lynch, Michael Lynch, Roy Lynch, Wade Barksdale and Tony Barksdale. Honorary pallbearers will be Marlin Saint, Robert Newell, Jerry Newell and Bobby Forsythe.
Special thanks to the nurses, CNA’s and staff at Burns Nursing & Rehab Center for the loving care you showed our sister during her stay there.
