Mahlon Junior Graham, 92, of Rogersville, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 30, 2025 at Athens Limestone Hospital surrounded with love.
Mahlon Junior Graham, 92, of Rogersville, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 30, 2025 at Athens Limestone Hospital surrounded with love.Mahlon was born on August 6, 1933, in Rogersville, AL to Adam and Bama Graham. He was a member of Rogersville Church of Christ. He attended Anderson Junior and Lauderdale County High School. Mahlon Joined the United States Navy in 1951, an experience that taught him a life long sense of duty and discipline. He grew up knowing Gladys Idell Richardson, who became his bride on October 13, 1954 and was the love of his life. Together, they built a beautiful life, defined by faith in God, dedication to family, and a strong work ethic. Mahlon owned and operated Graham’s Elk River Park Station, known for his jolly and friendly personality, compassionate heart, and honest nature. He was also a school bus driver for West Limestone High School. He was a much loved and favorite bus driver to the students, always known for his happy personality, tender heart, and easy going ways

In his retirement, Mahlon could often be found volunteering and visiting with his friends at the Rogersville Senior Center. A man of simple pleasures, Mahlon enjoyed daily walks, back porch conversation and gardening, growing the most beautiful and largest tomatoes in the community. He loved sharing his home grown vegetables with friends and family.
Mahlon was famous for his contagious laugh and the warm stories he would tell to anyone who would listen. He had an exceptional long term memory and could recite family birthdays and stories with details about growing up in the great depression.
Mahlon taught his family the importance of having faith in God, studying the Bible, and forgiveness. He looked forward to his quiet morning hours, drinking his coffee, and reading his Bible. He continued to stress the importance of living a Christian life until he was too weak to talk. Mahlon loved his family and always stressed how important family is. He taught hard work, integrity, how to love and how to laugh. He was a pillar of strength and a source of unwavering support for his wife, children, and grandchildren.
Mahlon was preceded in death by his parents, Adam and Bama Graham; his bonus mother, Ida Graham; his grandson, Chad Elkins; sisters, Mary Moore, Lucille Richardson, Edith Romine and brother, John David Graham.
His legacy will be cherished by his loving wife of seventy-one years, Gladys Graham; his children, daughter Denise Elkins and husband Mickey, Opelika; daughter Sheilia Long and husband Lendale, daughter Janice Thornton and husband Darryl, son Newell Graham and wife Melisa, all of Rogersville. He will be deeply missed by his eight grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren: Todd, Adam, Luke, Amber, Lindsey, April, Ethan, Audrey, Ally, Sala, Emma, Aspyn, Isaiah, Sydney, Abram, Noble, Cooper, Seth, Charlee, Coree, Magnolia, Paisley, Winnie, Tillie. He is also survived by his brother, Orlan Graham, Rogersville and a host of extended family and friends. His legacy will live on in the heart and mind of everyone he interacted with.
