Robert Charles “Buddy” Andrews, 92 of Arab passed away Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at Marshall Medical Center North. He was born in Calhoun County, May 2, 1933, the son of Charles Daniel Andrews and Mattie Lee Johnson Andrews. He was a graduate of Jacksonville High School, Class of 1951 and served his country with honor and courage in the United States Army. He was retired from NASA and then worked different contract jobs for the Federal Government. He served on the Board of Trustees for Grassy Junior High and was very active in the Boy Scouts throughout his children’s school years. In addition, he coached several youth sports teams and was a member of the PTA, making a lasting impact on the community and the lives of many young people.
He is survived by his wife of 72 years: Geraldine Glass Andrews; daughter: Kay Elwell (David); son: Dennis Andrews (Joan); eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; sister: Ruby Andrews; brother: Earl Andrews; host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by a daughter: Julie Andrews Johnson; parents: Charles and Mattie Lee Andrews; siblings: Jim Andrews, Nancy Bonds, Billie Ruth Roberts, Joe Andrews and Jerry Andrews.
Graveside Service will be 2:30 p.m. Friday, October 3, 2025, at Brookwood Cemetery, Gober Funeral Chapel Directing.
Visitation will be 12:30 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. Friday at Gober Funeral Chapel.
Pallbearers: Jason Elwell, Kevin Elwell, Russ Andrews, Jonathan Andrews, Brian Johnson, Will Baugh and Russell Baugh.
