Corey Michelle McEwen Corey Michelle McEwen, 48, passed away on September 15, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born in Memphis, Tennessee, to Paula Skidmore and Gerald McEwen. Growing up, Corey’s days were filled with softball—she was a true softball maniac—and family. As a teen and young adult, she spent countless days and summer nights enjoying the company of her close friends. She always had a deep love for art and creativity, enjoying doodling, painting, and making beautiful things out of nothing. Her imagination and passion for creating left a lasting impression on all who knew her.

Corey’s favorite titles were “Mom” to her children: Blake, Brittney, and Brooke. “Mimi” to her eight grandchildren: Harlee, McKenna, Kinslee, Macie, Khloe, Mya, Wyatt, Xylia, and a baby boy on the way, Ja’Koby Ray.

Along with her children and grandchildren, she is survived by her brothers Robert (Kayla) and their three children of Pontotoc, and JD of California. She is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. Corey shared a deep bond with her best friend, Beth, and they were like sisters. Beth was her safe place, and someone with whom she could be her truest self. She shared a special, long-time friendship with Justin, who loves and cares for her grandchildren as if they were his own.

Corey will be remembered for her silly ways, her kind and generous heart, and the love she freely shared with her family and friends.
